Welcome Back

We would like to welcome everyone back after a busy, chocolate- filled Christmas break! We are looking ahead to a bright, action- packed 2018 at Kirkton Primary. Keep checking the website for weekly updates.

P1 Enrolments
This week, we will be welcoming parents/ carers into the school to enrol their children to start in P1 in August. Please bring 2 forms of identification/ proof of address. Any bills should be dated in the last 6 months. Only full birth certificates will be accepted. The times for enrolment are as follows:

Monday 15th January - 9.30 - 12.00
Tuesday 16th January - 1.30 - 2.30
Wednesday 17th January - 1.30 - 2.30
Thursday 18th January - 9.30 - 12.00

Extra Curricular Clubs
This week, lunchtime and after school clubs will resume. There are also some new additions. Fiona Wilson, our Active Schools Coordinator, is running a morning Multi- Sports Club from 8.15 - 9.00 for P4 - 6 for 5 weeks, followed by P1 - 3 for 5 weeks. She is also running a lunchtime club to train our P5 and P6 Playground Buddies for 5 weeks, followed by a Girls Club for P6 and 7 for 5 weeks. Both the morning and lunchtime clubs will start on Tuesday 16th January.

Nurture Room
We are making the small Visiting Services room into a nurture room, as a safe, calming place pupils can come to if they need to. In order to do this, we are looking for some help from the school community to gather items we need to make it the best space it can be. If you had a Christmas clear out and came across any of the following, please hand it in to the office or Mrs Smith. We are  still looking for:
  • Action figures, animal figures etc
  • Any Playmobil (or something similar) - figures, houses, garages, furniture
  • Lego of any kind
  • Vehicles - toy cars, police vans, fire engines etc
  • Jigsaws/ board games etc
  • Materials
Thank you for your continued support.

Forest Schools
One of our parents, Colin Dunlop, has recently trained to be Forest Schools leader. This involves taking a small group of children outdoors to Jock's Gill to explore and learn a variety of skills. But most importantly to get muddy and have a fun- filled learning adventure! We are very lucky that he is giving up his time, along with Erin Hill who will be assisting him, to take our P6's out for some sessions. The children are enjoying every minute and are full of stories on their return. The new Forest School sessions for Term 3 start back on Wednesday 17th January and finish on Wednesday 28th February.
